One of my goals as a photographer is to document moments that depict authentic emotions from clients. I want to take photos that capture the precious memories in your life that you don’t want to fade away with time, moments you don’t want to forget. I’ve never had a client request a nursing session before, so this was a new experience for me which is good because I love to try new things.
This was a combination 3 month milestone and breastfeeding session. I had the pleasure of taking Charlie’s newborn photos in June, so I was pretty excited to see her again 3 months later, and oh how she’s grown! When they arrived I remember being amazed at how much one can change in just a few short months. Time can be fleeting for all of us, and I assume this is especially true for a new mom, which is why sessions like this one are so important.
For Sara, nursing Charlie not only has allowed her to nourish her baby girl but it has also been a beautiful bonding experience. There’s few things in life more powerful than the connection of a mother to her child. I’m honored to be able to capture the beginning stages of this mother-daughter relationship, one of life’s greatest love stories if you ask me. I almost find it hard to believe that this love, this enormous admiration and selfless devotion that Sara already has for her child will only grow bigger and stronger with time. But just as love grows, so will Charlie, and soon enough nursing will become a pastime, moments to be stored in the most precious parts of our mind hoping to never fade with time. Fortunately for Sara, these photos will forever capture this time in their lives, keeping the memory and the feelings that came with it, very much intact.
